I’ve been a bit quiet on social media for the last few days because time’s just been flying by. When there’s lots to do and the opportunity to spend quality time with family, I love to put away my phone and laptop and take a break from the internet.
Let’s see what else I’ve been loving this week.
After the freezing cold weather we had recently, it was so nice to experience some nicer weather this week. Sunny days and warmer temperatures made a pleasant change to days full of snow. The photo below is by no means the worst of the so-called Beast from the East we experienced the other week. In fact I think this was just the start.
Much of yesterday was spent out in the garden while the weather was nice. Ivy and big thorny plants have been trying to take over, so I’ve been starting to cut it all back and dig all of the thorny plants out. I can’t wait to get back out there and again and get some more work done. I love a project and it’s fun to plan what we want to do with the space.
As someone who has always struggled to relax and switch off my busy mind, mindfulness is something I’ve been trying to practice more. Adult colouring books have never appealed to me, but as ‘nourish’ is my word for the year and with some persuasion from Dan, I got a couple to try out.
I’ve only sat down to use them once so far, but anything that’ll make me step away from my phone, focus my mind and help me to relax has got to be a good idea.
Cute cats and dog photos
I shared my love for funny photos of my cats and dog in my last catch-up post, but I just couldn’t help myself and share more photos of them. Sorry not sorry.
We bought the cats a bed that opens up so they can sit inside it too and poke their head out and they love it.
But when it’s pushed down into a flat bed, the dog doesn’t give 2 hoots that it’s super small and that his bed is much more size appropriate.
He doesn’t seem to mind being all squished up when he can sit in his own bigger bed instead. He’s so strange!
Enjoying our dining room
Because yesterday was Mother’s Day, we invited my parents over for dinner. Because we didn’t have space for a dining table at our last home, it wasn’t easy to have guests for dinner. Even though our dining room is still a work in progress, it was lovely to be able to all sit around a table and enjoy a home-cooked meal together.
We’ve been eating at the table pretty much every evening when it’s just the 2 of us. I’d hate to be without a dining table now!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and weekend. Let me know what you’ve been up to and what plans you’ve got for this week.
