Well what a funny old week. We started last week in autumn and finished feeling like summer had returned! I’m certainly not going to complain about a rise in temperatures. Let’s see what else I loved last week, in addition to the warmer weather making an appearance.
Meeting my godson
I had to start this post off with meeting my godson for the first time. My friend lives miles away now, so I don’t get to see her very often. It was such an honour when she asked me to be godmother to her baby and I was so excited to meet him last week. He was such a cutie! Although I can’t believe he will be 1 years old in February – that’s flown by quickly.
I bought him a Christmas pudding hat for Christmas, but I thought it would be nice for him to wear it throughout December, so he had it as an early gift. He looked so sweet in it! Does anyone else enjoy buying gifts for children as much as me? There are so many cute things to choose from!
Clearing out the old
Ages ago now, I did a big declutter using the Konmari method. The only place that I never got to fully declutter was the garage, mainly because it was a big job and we weren’t sure what to do with half of it. Knowing that we’re moving house in the next few weeks, we made a start at clearing it out the previous weekend, but we still had plenty left to do.
This weekend, we got stuck in again at getting rid of anything we don’t really want or need. I find it so therapeutic to get rid of old items we no longer want. Smashing up really old pieces of furniture was good fun! There’s just one chest of drawers that we’re not sure what to do with, so it’s still sat in the garage while we decide. It needs a good clean, painting and possibly a new back fitting to it. I might take some photos to show you what we do to it if we decide we can make it work.
Just one or two more tip runs to make and then the garage is pretty much packed and ready to go. With no garage at the new house, we’re not entirely sure where we’re going to store everything until we get a shed, so that will be fun!
I love a good trip down memory lane and that was certainly what I got when I read the hilarious Hannah Gale’s post 23 Things We All Had in our Bedrooms. From lava lamps to Beanie Babies and Groovy Chick accessories to hair crimpers, her post made me realise just how different things were back in the day!
Another post I really enjoyed was 3 Mantras to Live By. I thought Paula’s mantras of I am receiving right now, compare no more, and let go were such wonderful mantras to live by every day.
Let me know what you loved about last week and what you’re up to this week. I hope everyone stays safe with the impending hurricane!
