Oh dear, I’ve been slacking a bit with posting! I seem to go through phases of posting regularly and being super organised and then disappearing a little. Well, I’m back and I’m going to be making much more of an effort to get posting more. Again. Even though I haven’t been blogging much, I was really productive last week and got plenty done. Having a productive week always makes me feel good.
Let’s see what I was loving last week.
With only around a month now until we’re hopefully moving house, we’ve started to get things ready. We haven’t got a definite moving date yet, so we don’t want to do too much, but I always think it’s best to get ahead early on. The last thing I want is a huge last minute panic about how in the hell we’re going to get everything done in time.
This weekend, we made a start at clearing out the garage. Thank goodness we did because that job is going to take way longer than I anticipated! At least we can stagger it across a couple of weekends, rather than spending an entire day going backwards and forwards to the tip.
I now feel like a master at flat-packing furniture! I’ve been helping Dan to take some furniture apart so we can make more room in our spare room for packed boxes. After a little while, I was unscrewing fastenings and taking things apart like a pro. I just need to master the art of putting everything back together when we’re in our new home now!
One of my favourite things to do is to go for a peaceful walk. Walking in nature is one of the most relaxing things, I find, and so I really enjoyed having a stroll around a nearby lake this week. It was surprisingly warm when we got walking and the sun even made a frequent appearance.
Wanting to start using up some store cupboard ingredients, we decided to do some baking. Baking is something neither of us have done for ages, and it was quite relaxing to bake together while we listened to some music. Enjoying our homemade shortbread and fruit loaf wasn’t too bad either! We are in no way the best bakers, but it was good fun nonetheless.
One of my favourite reads that I completely related to last week was Perfectionism, Moving On and Finding Myself. Hayley chats about the perfect and unrealistic lifestyle standards that we are constantly shown. It’s so true that we are always under pressure to need to be perfect and to have a perfect life. The truth is that no-one is perfect and no-one has a perfect life either. We need to realise this and, as Hayley says, embrace our perfectly un-perfect life.
Do you ever read posts that totally transport you into another place and make you feel so relaxed? A blog that does this for me so often is The Londoner. I love reading about what she gets up to and seeing all of the photos of the beautiful places she visits. Seeing the winding little streets and hidden gems of Ostuni, Puglia was a delight.
Let me know what you loved about last week and what you’ve got planned this week.
