To you, my beautiful reader, my luxe letter June 2017. I mentioned in my May luxe letter that I have been going through a difficult time recently. I truly believe that out of every bad situation, something good will come out of it. When one door shuts, another one ALWAYS opens.
Just last week, I was having a chat with my neighbour. We began talking about the difficulties we’re both facing and it turned into a real heart-to-heart. Ironically, she has been through a similar situation to me, as have several of her friends. Hearing about her experiences really reassured me that I’m in no way alone. It turned out that she is one of the most encouraging and supportive people I’ve ever met and she really helped to make me feel less stressed.
No matter what life throws at us, thinking of all the things we have to be grateful for is so important and can lift our spirits. Celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary at the start of the month was something I was definitely grateful for. I feel so lucky to have found and married my soulmate. Usually, we go out for a meal for our wedding anniversary. This year, we were both feeling very tired and we just didn’t feel like going out. Instead, we stayed in and watched a film with a takeaway and a nice bottle of red wine and we really enjoyed having a relaxed evening. Sometimes, it can be just as nice to stay in to celebrate, I find.
The weather halfway through the month was extremely summery. We had a full-on heatwave here, with the sun shining and temperatures soaring. I will say that it got a little too hot for me at times. However, it was also really nice to spend so much time outdoors. Personally, I find there’s something so enjoyable about pottering around in the garden, reading a good book and having barbecues with a cold glass of something fizzy. It reminds me of being abroad and it feels like a much more relaxed lifestyle.
We also managed to get several jobs done around the house and garden this month that we’ve been wanting to do for a long time. One of the main things we worked on was the garage, putting up new guttering and painting the door and woodwork and installing a new lock. It’s these kinds of jobs that have been so far down on the priority list since we moved in, but they make such a big difference to the view of the garage from our back garden. We did also start painting the fence, but we never got around to finishing it. The weather got way too hot to be doing that kind of thing! Or anything, for that matter!
Did you enjoy the hot weather we had? Let me know what you got up to!
