Luxe Letter January 2018

Luxe letter January 2018

To you, my beautiful reader, my luxe letter January 2018. Wow, it’s been quite some time since we’ve had a proper catch up. I haven’t written a luxe letter since October. That’s seriously bad going. With Christmas, the arrival of the new year, being busy with work and of course moving house, time has been flying by.

The last time I spoke to you in my monthly letter, we were getting ready to move. Reading that post back, I can literally feel the excitement and the impatience in my writing. I literally couldn’t wait. After years of waiting and waiting to move into a bigger space in a nice area, we were about to finally make the move.

I knew that moving day was going to be extremely tiring and boy, I wasn’t wrong. Saying goodbye to our old house for the last time was a tad emotional too. That house had been our home of nearly 7 years, our first step onto the property ladder and a big project that we had spent all of that time working on. We’d finally got the house looking pretty much how we wanted it to and now we were handing it over to someone else. I did a couple of tour posts of our first home so you can see the finished result.

It was sad to leave, but incredibly exciting to be moving onto bigger things.

We started making updates to our new house straight away. However, there’s a large list of things that we really want to do, so we’ve decided to prioritise. As my Dad says, it’s not a race. Taking your time and investing slowly, I believe, is the best way to create a home and garden you will love for years to come.

Amidst the chaos of moving day, I managed to snap a few quick photos, which you can see in my empty house tour post. They will give you an idea of what we’re working with.

Blinds have since been put up in most windows, furniture has been re-assembled and put into place and pictures and mirrors have been hung on some of the walls. Outside, we’ve purchased and assembled a shed, chopped back trees and replaced fence panels after the recent strong winds ruined the old ones.

Next on the list is installing the new oven and hob that are on the way, choosing new interior and exterior lights and ordering a nicer house sign for next to the front door.

Plans to replace several windows and the front door are underway, as are discussions about the front garden and driveway. I could go on, but the list is pretty much never-ending at this point. It’s a little overwhelming at times, but so much fun to be getting stuck into a project again. When it’s a house and garden with lots of space to work with and so much potential too, it’s incredibly exciting.

I hope you’ve had an enjoyable start to the year. January seemed to go on for a very long time didn’t it! February is shaping up to be another busy month for us, with lots of work and plans for the house still to take shape. I’ll Let me know what you’ve been up to and what plans you’ve got for February too.

Much love,

I’m not surprised that you’ve had to take a short break from writing your luxe letters, you sure have had a lot on your plate! I can totally understand your emotional feelings at leaving your old house for the last time, you really did make the place your own and I’m sure that the new owners will be absolutely delighted with it! It must be really exciting to have the chance to put your stamp on a new property as well, I think your dad’s advice is golden that slow and steady wins the race with renovations, taking plenty of time to think about how you really want things to look will ensure that your new place is absolutely perfect! I’m really looking forward to seeing where the new renovations take you!
