To you, my beautiful reader, my luxe letter August 2017. August – the final month of summer. The last month of sunshine, warm weather and blue skies. Or maybe not quite so much! It’s been a bit of a miserable one overall hasn’t it? Having said that, we’ve had some gorgeous weather here on and off recently, so I hope it’s been nice for you too.
I was so happy and surprised to receive a beautiful bouquet of flowers towards the start of the month. Dan knocked on the front door when he got home from work, which I thought was very strange. I opened the door, and there he was holding a bunch of flowers, saying he wanted to get me something to cheer me up after I’ve been feeling ill a lot recently. That gesture meant the world to me and reminded me of how lucky I am to have such supportive people in my life. Sometimes going through difficult times and not feeling so great can serve as a great reminder of the things we have in our lives to be grateful for.
Very often, it’s the small things in life that can bring such joy. Sitting outside having a BBQ with my family while the weather was lovely last weekend was so nice. A fresh baguette, parma ham and my Mum’s colourful salad made the perfect accompaniments.
And, of course, I simply can’t forget to mention the big news I shared this month, that we’re moving house. The whole of August has been taken up with prepping the house for viewers, cleaning everything until it sparkles, painting anything that needs it and constantly keeping the garden in immaculate condition. Not to mention the numbers of people descending on the house, phone calls and paperwork that goes with putting your house on the market. It’s been a crazy time, that’s for sure!
We’ve been so happy to receive an offer within a few days and several more viewings. Hopefully, we’ll be accepting an offer very soon, so we can get the sale moving. It’s very exciting knowing that we’ll be moving to a new home within the next few months, if everything goes well.
The new house will be bigger than the one we currently live in, so I’m already keeping my eye out for additional decor items. When I spotted marble heart-shaped coasters with a gold edge in TK Maxx, I just couldn’t resist!
Hot weather on Bank Holiday Monday couldn’t have come at a better time for us. We decided to do nothing all day and just relax. A day of sunbathing, reading a good book and relaxing in the hot tub was so enjoyable. As if we hadn’t had the nicest day, to top it all off, we were sat in the garden enjoying a BBQ when the Red Arrows flew right over our heads! An amazing end to a wonderful day!
I hope you’ve had a lovely August? Let me know what you’ve been up to this month and if you have any plans for September.
