LuxeStyle is a lifestyle blog focused on designing an inspired luxe life, created by Jenny from Staffordshire, England.
I would love for you to get to know me a little better.
Some of my favourite things in the world
Of course, luxury has to be on this list, from designer handbags to 5 star hotels – I have a real love of the finer things in life. Having said that, I also love finding a great bargain!
I’m a real foodie – Dan and my parents often joke about the fact that I am always thinking about food, Italian food in particular.
Music is something I can’t imagine being without and singing to my favourite music at the top of my voice is one of my favourite pastimes.
People often say that laughter is the best medicine and I couldn’t agree more. I have a real love of laughing until tears roll down my face.
I’ve always loved interiors and seeing how other people style their homes. I guess I’m just nosy – I love nothing more than looking inside other people’s houses! When I first started blogging, it was all about my home because it’s such a passion of mine.
Finding our first home was one of the best things I’ve experienced. Having a place to call our own and to decorate how we liked was incredibly exciting.
We got the keys at the start of 2011. Getting your first home often involves compromising, and boy did we compromise in order to get a house! It’s very small and it needed a ridiculous amount of work doing to it. We literally worked with the bare bones of the house and the walls are pretty much the only thing we haven’t done anything major to; having said that, we did knock down part of one wall, so even they didn’t escape our renovations.
You can see the photos of how our home looked when we got the keys here. Here’s our living room to whet your appetite. What a joy!
I was working full-time and so I would go out to work in the daytime during the week and then help out at the house whenever I could. My Dad helped us such a lot with our project and he taught Dan so many DIY skills that we are both so grateful for.
We settled into our new home and gradually decorated and finished bits and pieces off as we went along. We’ve always known that this house won’t be our forever home, so we’ve never felt the need to get everything exactly as we would like it to be, but we’ve worked very hard to make it a lovely home all the same.
Our wedding and honeymoon
Dan and I got married in the summer of 2013 and it was undeniably the happiest day of my life. We got married at the church where I was christened and where my Mum and Dad also got married, so a very special place to me, and then we had our reception at a lovely venue halfway between our home and the area where many of Dan’s family live, so the perfect spot!
We had our honeymoon in Santorini. It was extremely hot, scenic and very pretty. Our suite had a terrace with sunloungers and our own jacuzzi – heaven.
Why I have a positive outlook
Even though these days were some of my happiest, they were also a difficult time for me. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Going through a difficult time really tested this belief, but when I think about it now, it’s brought me onto a path where I found a job I really enjoy and my blog that has been a joy to create – I don’t think either of these things would be in my life right now if things hadn’t happened the way they did.
They say when one door closes, another one opens, and that has certainly been the case for me.
My journey has created my new-found positive outlook on life. I previously struggled with being negative about things and being a terrible worrier. Whilst I still do worry about things, I’ve learnt that being positive and deciding that life is easy is life-changing. I really can’t recommend it enough.
My blogging journey
I first created this blog in September 2015, as somewhere to document all the improvements we made to our home. I kept my blog completely to myself while I got to grips with what I was doing, but mainly because it was daunting to make my blog public.
In the summer of 2016, I finally saw sense and realised I should put it out there for everyone to see. So I took the plunge, and I haven’t looked back since.
By this point, I was really enjoying blogging and I had become very eager to expand the things I wrote about to include other subjects I felt very passionate about. I had a yearning to turn my blog into something I truly adored and that was totally me, so in September 2016, I decided to create the blog I was desperate to write. I completely revamped, rebranded and renamed my blog to turn it into the vision I had seen for so long. It turns out, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
I’m passionate about beautiful interiors, creating a lifestyle that feels truly luxurious, and spreading a message that inspires others to create a home and life you adore. We all want a home and life we love with a large dose of luxe thrown in – so let’s create it!
To anyone who reads my blog, follows me on social media and leaves me comments – thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t tell you how much it means to me and equally how much it amazes me that people go out of their way to say such lovely things about my blog.
Thank you for joining me – I am delighted to have you here.
